About Dusty Lyn

A little bit of everything. A whole lot of determination.

DUSTY LYN McLEAN

A little bit of everything. A whole lot of determination.

Mississippi born. Louisiana educated. A little bit of everywhere in between.

THE INTRODUCTION

I don't fit in one box. So I build my own.

I'm Dusty Lyn McLean. I'm originally from Gloster, Mississippi, graduated from Jewel M. Sumner High School in Kentwood, Louisiana, and have spent enough time moving around to know that home isn't always just one place. These days, I'm a North Mississippi transplant, putting down roots while continuing to chase ideas that rarely stay small.

I'm a mother, a technologist, an entrepreneur, an independent researcher, a creator, and a woman with more interests than any reasonable person could fit into a single introduction.

I've built websites, launched businesses, researched things most people wouldn't know where to begin looking into, worked with brands, navigated unfamiliar industries, and started over more than once.

Some things have worked beautifully. Others have taught me lessons I probably wouldn't have paid for voluntarily.

But I keep building.

I'm not interested in creating the illusion that I have everything figured out. I'm interested in actually figuring things out: and sharing what I learn along the way.

That's what DustyLyn.com is about.

It's my little piece of the internet. Part personal journal, part portfolio, part collection of adventures, honest opinions, unexpected discoveries, and ideas that somehow turned into full-fledged projects.

Welcome to my world. It's a little bit of everything, and that's exactly how I like it.

THE WOMAN BEHIND THE WEBSITE

I come from small-town Mississippi, but I've never believed that where you're from should determine how far your ideas can go.

My professional background started in technology, but curiosity has taken me into e-commerce, brand partnerships, digital development, research, agriculture, media, and business ownership.

One day I might be building an online storefront. The next, I'm working through a research proposal, learning about a new technology, reviewing a product, planning an adventure, or trying to connect people who could accomplish something meaningful together.

I don't consider those interests unrelated. They're all expressions of the same thing: I like understanding how the world works, and I like finding ways to make things better.

I'm ambitious, resourceful, independent-minded, and sometimes a little too willing to take on the impossible.

I'm also a real person behind all those projects, with a family, responsibilities, experiences, challenges, a sense of humor, and a life that exists well beyond a business plan.

I want this space to reflect all of that.

WHAT I'M BUILDING

Pixie's Pantry — My consumer-facing boutique, where independent brands, product education, affordable options, and a more personal shopping experience come together.

Pixie's Distribution — My wholesale and brand-development venture, connecting businesses, products, retailers, and opportunities.

Mississippi Applied Cannabis Research Institute (MACRI) — My developing research initiative focused on cannabinoid science, scientific collaboration, and building a responsible foundation for future research.

Black Box Fields — My emerging agricultural and mycology project exploring controlled growing environments, technology, practical education, and new approaches to agricultural opportunity.

Ole Brook Web Services — A business I previously co-owned and sold, and an important chapter in my experience building websites and solving technical problems for others.

Mellow Pixie / Reviewed by Dusty — My creative outlet for real product experiences, reviews, demonstrations, education, and the occasional discovery I simply have to share.

And those are just the projects with names.

There are plenty more ideas, experiments, collaborations, and things in development. Some will become businesses. Some will become stories. Some might never make it beyond the drawing board.

I think there's value in sharing the process either way.

BEYOND THE BUSINESS CARDS

I love discovering things worth talking about.

Places worth visiting. Products that actually do what they're supposed to do. Little-known resources. Interesting people. Unexpected experiences. Clever inventions. Beautiful things. Strange things. Things that make everyday life easier.

Not every recommendation needs to be sponsored. Not every adventure needs to be extravagant. And not everything worth documenting needs to turn into a business.

Sometimes something is simply interesting, useful, funny, beautiful, or memorable.

That's enough for me.

When I recommend something, I want people to understand why. When I document an experience, I want to tell the whole story—not just the part that looks good in a photograph.

Real experiences. Real curiosity. Real opinions.

MY PERSONAL BRAND PROMISE

I won't pretend a project is successful before it is.

I won't recommend something simply because someone wants me to.

I won't pretend I know everything.

I will ask questions, research the details, acknowledge what I'm still learning, and give credit where it's due.

I'll share the exciting parts, the complicated parts, and occasionally the parts that make me wonder why I started something in the first place.

Because this isn't a perfectly curated character.

It's my life, my work, my interests, and my ongoing attempt to make something good out of all of it.
